An American snowy mountain expedition team was preparing to select a batch of explorers in public. Team leader Mark was responsible for the last quiz for the 15 explorers who were good at climbing snowy mountain and had been qualified for the previous quiz. By the time when the last round quiz was to be held, Mark said to all those 15 testers, “this was a last quiz for test your soul. Only those whose soul are qualified shall be an excellent snowy mountain explorer. Therefore all team members shall pass this quiz.”
Then Mark assigned his colleague to lead all 15 candidate testers into a room respectively, in separation. And Mark asked the first candidate : “hey, buddy, suppose now you’re just in front of the Mount Everest, and there is a team leaders of yours just several meters in front of you, which means that he will arrive at the top of Mount Everest earlier than you while you will probably rank the second. What are you going to do at this moment?”
The first candidate answered : “it’s just so short a distance! I will just try my best to surpass him to be the first arriving at the top of Mount Everest!”
“Oh, my buddy, you’re not suitable for a snowy mountain explorer.” said Mark.
“why?” asked the young man with much confusion on his face.
“I will just give you the answer several minutes later. Please go out first.” answered Mark.
Then the young man had to stepped out of the room helplessly.
Among all the 15 explorer testers who likes climbing snowy mountain, 14 of them provided the same answer as the first candidate tested.
While the last young tester who was not so strong as the others, provided a very different answer: “Well, let him be the No. 1 and I am OK to be No. 2.”
“Why?” asked Mark?
“Well, I just don’t care who will be No. 1 or No. 2. I just want to arrive to the top of the snowy mountain. It doesn’t matter how I ranks. I am is just to step onto the top of the snowy mountain on my feet.”
“Congratulation!” said Mark excitedly, “you can certainly return back from the snowy mountain safely. You’re the only one qualified to be selected as our new team members.”
Finally Mark explained to other testers who had been failed : “I have contributed my whole life in snowy mountain. It’s a place quite different from noisy street or flat area. Temperature at the top of the snowy mountain may be more than 10 degrees below zero and air there is quite thin. Every step under your feet may be a trap of death. If you just want to surpass your team members, you have to speed up you speed and you will certainly be lack of air. Then you might be suffocated and fall onto the cold and sleep icy mountain surface.”
Mark added sadly : “Many of our snowy mountain explorers died in the snowy mountain not because of their lacking of energy or poor techniques, but because of their strong desire in heart.”
Isn’t your life like climbing snowy mountains? How many of those who care so much about fame, money or benefits can really arrive at pinnacle of their life? Only those who don’t care those which will burden their heart can come to pinnacle of their life and experience real life height.
Desire is the deepest trap. Only when you get rid of your desire, can you really throw burden in your fortune and arrive at pinnacle of your life!
